The Benefits Analyst is responsible for assisting in the administration of all US and Canada benefits and retirement programs.
• Handle day-to-day operations of US and Canada group benefits programs, including medical, dental, vision, leave of absence, life insurance, retirement plans, tuition reimbursement, wellness program, and other benefits.
• Work closely with plan vendors and third-party administrators.
• Respond to employee inquiries on plan provisions, enrollment, life events, claim issues, and other benefits issues/concerns.
• Assist with open enrollment and new hire processes, including distribution of materials, presentations, employee communications, and system updates.
• Work closely with HRIS to monitor interface files, ensuring errors and discrepancies are addressed timely, and vendors receive accurate enrollment and eligibility information.
• Audit enrollment and payroll data and process applicable arrears and retroactive
adjustments, ensuring employees are paying the appropriate deductions each pay.
• Work with third party leave administrator to process leave of absence requests, including short- and long-term disability, state leaves, FMLA, and personal leaves.
• Process ADA accommodation requests.
• Update employee benefits center with employee communications, benefits information, and required notices.
• Process 401(k) and RRSP funding each pay period.
• Ensure compliance with federal and state regulations, including ERISA, HIPAA, COBRA, FMLA, ACA, and ADA. This includes 1095 reporting and filing, 5500 filings, NDT testing for healthcare and retirement accounts, Medicare mailings, and other state filings.
• Oversee third party billing, reconciliation and payment service. Track administrative costs of benefit programs and reconcile budgeted funds. Collaborate with the finance department on necessary reporting for allocation and billing.
• Administer global tuition reimbursement program.
• Coordinate workers' compensation claims with third-party administrator. Follow up on claims.
Education & Experience:
• Bachelor's degree preferred
• Two to four years of related employee benefits administration experience required
Knowledge & Skills:
• Extensive knowledge of employee benefits and applicable laws.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite, including Excel and PowerPoint.
• Experience with UKG or similar HRIS systems.
• Ability to troubleshoot and resolve issues in benefits systems and processes.
• Solid analytical skills with attention to detail.
• Strong organizational, communication, and time-management skills.
• Effective planning and priority setting. Ability to manage several complex projects
simultaneously while working under pressure to meet deadlines.
