Overview

The International Controller, APAC & EMEA, is a highly visible role serving as a primary partner in driving operational, financial and strategic objectives for our growing business. The International Controller reports to the Vice President Controller. The International Controller leads their team in various locations to build and maintain partnerships with corporate accounting and tax teams, operations, technology, sales and local management teams, to ensure timely and accurate recording of transactions in accordance with US GAAP, local statutory requirements, month end closings, and reporting and analysis. The role also ensures the accurate recording of transactions, audits, and financial reporting under various country specific statutory reporting requirements. The role requires the ability to think and act strategically while concurrently managing critical accounting, reporting and local compliance functions.

Responsibilities

  • Primary responsibility for all APAC & EMEA accounting, reporting and analysis functions as well as managing cross-functional projects to create efficiencies.
  • Timely and accurate financial results, localized compliance reporting, and statutory audit results.
  • Ensure completeness and accuracy of statutory accounting to US GAAP reconciliation for all APAC & EMEA entities.
  • Fluctuation analysis for US GAAP P&L and Balance Sheet for APAC and EMEA on a monthly and quarterly basis. This includes fluctuation of actuals period over period and budget vs actuals.
  • Assist the Vice President Controller and CFO in the development and execution of best practices and actively participate in new process implementations.
  • Interfaces at all levels of the organization.
  • Effectively communicates complex ideas to external/internal executive leadership.
  • Makes decisions, guided by company strategy and business/functional objectives, that impact results.
  • Evaluates key business challenges; directs the development of new or improved solutions.
  • Continuously strives for improvement and efficiency.
  • Continuous staff development.
  • Clearly assigns responsibility for tasks and decisions, sets clear objectives and measures, monitors process, progress and results; designs feedback loops into work.

 

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting or business with an accounting emphasis. An MBA is a plus.
  • Chartered Accountant or CPA designation, with extensive experience working for US based companies under US GAAP rules.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of US GAAP accounting requirements versus local statutory requirements.
  • Demonstrated, through past accomplishments, the ability to meet the needs of a US based headquarters while meeting local requirements.
  • Demonstrated, through past accomplishment, significant people leadership skills and the ability to develop a multi-country, multi-cultural team.
  • The skills and knowledge to apply continuous improvement methodologies to improve the quality of accounting results with an emphasis an accuracy and efficiency.
  • Demonstrated, through past accomplishments, a dedication to meeting the expectations and requirements of internal and external customers.
  • Excellent communication skills across all levels of the organization.
  • Thrives in a dynamic, rapidly changing environment.
