Delivery Manager, Data Systems (Data Lake)

The Delivery Manager for Data Systems (Data Lake) will be responsible for serving as the Delivery Manager and Scrum Master for the Agile Delivery Team. The Agile Delivery Team will be made up of Software Engineers, QA Test Engineers, and a Technical Product Manager along with the Delivery Manager with team size ranging between 8-10 team members.

The Delivery Manager will ultimately be responsible for the planning, coordinating, and facilitating the Program Increment Planning and Release Planning of the Agile Delivery Team and all the associated events and processes to ensure the engineering teams are delivering value and on time.

As Scrum Master this role will lead all Scrum ceremonies and create all required artifacts to ensure that teams follow Agile practices and scrum framework values, work to increase team efficiency, and provide motivation and guidance for process improvement.

The Delivery Manager will help escalate impediments, manage risk, and help drive continuous improvements for the team. This position will report to, and take direction from, the Technology Program Management Office (PMO); however, must be able to work independently.

Responsibilities

  • Work with on-site Agile Delivery Team serving as Scrum Master and Delivery Manager/Project Manager
  • Able to effectively communicate with stakeholders located in the U.S. and Europe, escalate impediments, help manage risk, and drive improvements
  • Facilitate the delivery of projects and products using Agile principles and methodologies
  • Help keep the team on track and ensure that projects and products meet specific standards at each stage of production
  • Help establish user stories for products and build established roadmaps for products
  • Constantly look for ways to improve processes and make them as effective as possible, ensuring projects finish on time and within budget
  • Works to minimize meetings and ceremonies, but when they are needed, they are well-run and efficient
  • Where appropriate, coaches the team to improve collaboration and outcomes
  • Training, mentoring, and supporting scrum team to follow agile values, principles, and practices
  • Scheduling and facilitating scrum events, meetings, and decision-making processes
  • Create all necessary Scrum artifacts
  • Monitoring progress and performance and helping teams to make improvements
  • Planning and organizing demos and product/system testing
  • Preparing and presenting status reports to stakeholders
  • Develop meeting objectives and agendas and facilitate meetings
  • Ensure project documents are complete, current, and stored appropriately
  • Effectively present, orally and in writing, proposals, progress reports and recommendations to the highest levels in the organization
  • Facilitate post-project and post-release “lessons learned” sessions
  • Helping track features and capabilities throughout development
  • Assist with the coordination of Quarterly Program Increment (PI) planning across their team
  • Provides proactive visibility and effectively communicates delivery targets, commitments, and progress of the Program Increment for their teams
  • Help teams with feature estimation and the aggregation of estimates for larger pieces of work like capabilities and epics by planning and ensuring the vision, roadmap, and program backlogs are ready
  • Provide guidance in Agile, Scrum, and SAFe for their team
  • Monitoring progress and performance and helping teams to make improvements
  • Management and tracking of all high-integrity commitments
  • Work closely with the Product Managers to ensure that the Minimum Viable Product (MVP) is clear and understood by the team
  • Manages inter-departmental relationships with internal and external business customers at various management levels

Qualifications

  • 5+ years experience leading Agile teams as Scrum Master or Product Owner roles
  • 5+ years proven and successful experience in a project management role
  • Experience with working with following data and other technologies: Mongo DB, Databricks, GCP, Google Big Query, Google Dataflow, DataLake Tables, Python, Tableau, Java, SpringBoot, Kafka, JIRA, Confluence
  • Must have a solid grasp of how to scale Lean and Agile practices and understand the unique opportunities and challenges associated with facilitating and continuously aligning a large development program
  • Experience in managing team(s) following scaled-Agile approaches such as the Scaled Agile Framework (SAFe), Disciplined Agile, Development (DAD), or other Agile, Scrum or other iterative frameworks at-scale
  • Working knowledge of agile methodology, techniques, and frameworks, such as Scrum or Kanban, to deliver solutions
  • Experience as a Scrum Master effectively leading and coaching teams in Agile fashions
  • Former work experience in Software Development, or other technical area of expertise preferred
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related discipline
  • Certified scrum master
  • Excellent people and project management skills
  • Strong communication and presentation skills
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Must be able to work overlapping hours between on-site teams and with US-based teams and stakeholders

 

Education:

BS in Computer Science, Engineering, or related technical field required
